[ It's a small room, honestly, almost unremarkable-looking. The only thing of immediate note is a small chamber with a box nestled inside. There's a hallway leading outside of the room, though it's almost oppressively quiet. The air around this entire place is— uneasy, as if the wrong move could lead to something terrible. ]

[ A slim young man wearing a yukata stands before you. His hair is short, dark— though his expression is darker still, a mask of still anger. ] You shouldn't play with other people's things, you know. It's rude.

[ hope he doesn't mind telepathy ]

I had no intention of playing with it.

Even so, I do apologize for my intrusion.

[marezydoats]

[ The telepathy startles the young man, though not badly enough that he loses track of himself or his anger. He takes the box from Uriel. ] The last person who touched my box is still in trouble for it. It's not meant for anyone else's hands.

What is inside of it, that makes it so precious to you?

[marezydoats]

[ RIN DOESN'T ACTUALLY KNOW. There's a moment where Akito freezes— it's almost like a glitch in the system— and then he's shrugging casually. ] It's mine, and that's enough.

Regardless, I would suggest keeping it somewhere more secure if you're opposed to others touching it.

This is supposed to be a private room, people rarely come in here. How much more secure would you have it be? The last person foolish enough to come in here was "that" girl, and she's been punished appropriately.

Do you mean Rin?

[marezydoats]

Yes, that's who I mean. My little horse tried to run wild so I penned her up. It's appropriate to keep the likes of her in a stable of her own.

[ his mouth twitches ]

She is a human being, not a horse.

[marezydoats]

[ Akito's lips twitch. ] She is as much one as she is the other. All of them are, cursed as such. The horse, the ox, the boar.... the dog, the snake, the dragon... All of them, mine.

Symbolically? Or is that meant in a literal sense?

[marezydoats]

Why can't it be both? Though the bond is very much a real thing.

[marezydoats]

It's not something that we usually tell strangers about, you know. [ Akito waves his hand imperiously. ] But I'll make an exception. First, are you familiar with the myth of the Chinese zodiac?

Perhaps, though it may not be with an ideal degree of familiarity for this discussion.

[marezydoats]

A brief overview, then. Once upon a time... God told all the animals, "I'm having a banquet tomorrow. You must not be late!" After that, the Rat told the Cat that the banquet was the day after, so the next day, the Cat slept while the rest of the animals went. On that day, the Rat rode the whole way on the Ox, and then jumped off to get to the banquet first. The Ox was second, then the Tiger, the Rabbit, the Dragon... the Snake, the Horse, the Sheep... the Monkey, the Rooster, the Dog, the Boar. All except for the foolish Cat, who stayed at home sleeping. Such is how it goes.

I thought you might figure it out on your own... Though I suppose not. I am "God," of course.

It only struck me as rather disagreeable to think a god might refer to one of the lives within their power as unkindly as you have yours.
