Of course, I speak with the utmost respect. Though, I must say, I'm quite concerned to hear that a child is the head of an entire household. Times must be hard on your family.

[marezydoats]

I've been the head of household for many years. [ Says the man who can't possibly be older than nineteen or twenty. ] And the house is prosperous, so it can't be doing too badly under me.

[counterfaith]

I commend your servants and your relatives, then.

Tell me, do you believe in God?

[marezydoats]

[ The young man chuckles. ] Do I believe in God...! Oh certainly, you could say that...!

[counterfaith]

Really now? Just one or many?

[marezydoats]

Are we to get into a theology discussion? [ The young man looks bored. ] Religion aside, there's only one "God" that matters most.

[counterfaith]

It's only out of curiosity I ask.

Who do you believe to be "God"?

[marezydoats]

[ The young man chuckles again. ] Don't be coy... You already know what I'm going to say, don't you?

[counterfaith]

I would hate to be so disrespectful as to misunderstand you by leaping to conclusions.

[marezydoats]

[ The young man grins enigmatically. ] Of course you wouldn't. Very well, then; I'll spell it out for you. I am God.

[counterfaith]

I see. Then I have been very disrespectful to you, Lord.

Then, please tell me. For what reason are you on this Earth? For what reason have you stepped down from the heavens?

[marezydoats]

Why...? I was born to this earth to be loved, of course. It is through my benevolence that "they" are allowed some semblance of a normal existence, despite their cursed status.

[counterfaith]

But if you are God, then can you not remove the curse?

[marezydoats]

[ I MEAN. ACTUALLY, YES, BUT RIN DOESN'T KNOW THAT. The young man frowns. ] Why would I do a thing like that?

[counterfaith]

Well, you are God, of course - and doing so is what one would consider to be a miracle befitting only of god. Curses, after all, are a devil's work. God Himself does no such thing.

Moreover, as God, you have no need to rely on such a curse. If you are truly God, then your followers will devote themselves to you without the crippling of a curse. Rather, who would follow a God with the ability to cure them of their ailment but doesn't? Therefore, it would only be wise to heal them, no? To perform a miracle?

Unless, of course, it is impossible for you.

[marezydoats]

[ The young man stares at Kuuha, cold fury in every inch of his demanor. A slim hand lifts up... ...and sharply backhands Kuuha. ] Arrogant fool. Learn your place! You have no idea the matters which you are talking about!

[counterfaith]

[ takes it, but ]

Perhaps I am. However, I am a priest - I am forbidden from blasphemy, and tolerating blasphemy. You, who merely strikes someone when your authority is questioned, who calls a little girl worthless until she believes as such - can you truly be God?

I know my God is no such person. He is kind and loving, and before He asks to love, He loves us. Are you anything like that? Are you anything like Him?

[marezydoats]

[ The young man hisses. ] She is mine! All of them are! They are monsters, tolerated only because of me! And that child, that girl, is only here by my leave! If I want to, I can break her and keep her where no one else can find her— and no one has the right to argue any of it.

[counterfaith]

[ do not flip this man, kuuha. do not ]

I think not. Perhaps you believed you could do that before, and perhaps she thought so too - but so long as she is my comrade, you will not harm a hair on her head. She is no monster, and you are no God.

[marezydoats]

[ The young man backhands Kuuha again. ] She is mine! All of them are mine! To break and discard at only my choice, and not some stupid child who thinks he can understand the first thing about us and the ties that bind us!
