HOW LONG DOES KATOU THINK HE CAN AVOID ECHO :))))

/starts with easy questions because i'm tired

REALISTICALLY he thinks if he avoids her for too long, then she'll think that's somehow suspicious and keep being concerned. So he figures if he avoids her for a couple of weeks, then by the time he runs into her again, she'll have enough time to not be too concerned without thinking he's Supsicious. Then he can just troll the hell out of her and all will be good!

What would Echo ask Katousaber if she could get him to answer truthfully?

MAN, what she would really want to ask is DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE? To her that's a very heavy question, and even if all he could do is supply an honest yes or no question, that'd be enough for her. The SLIGHTEST indication in WANTING to change, even if he thought he couldn't, would be enough. It'd make things easier! Maybe. maybe.

HE'S DOING OKAY MOSTLY! He's very upset that Uriel is there but also very happy that he's there which is ?! and also it's Upsetting that he's a Berserker. WHY IS URIEL A BERSERKER??? Other than that, he's actually pretty okay.

HOW ARE ECHO/ZWEI DOING?

ECHO: IS DOING... PRETTY OKAY! She's still a little bit overwhelmed by her load of new teammates, because not only did a bunch of new people show up at once, they're all Slightly Annoying and Eccentric in ways that Echo hasn't adjusted to yet. She is still worried about various things like Elaine, Katou, Zwei, and other things such as the QUESTIONABLE SANITY OF A FEW OF HER TEAMMATES. So she's like. Trucking along. Caring more than she should. Still somehow "enjoying" afterlife.

ZWEI: IS NOT DOING OKAY AT ALL, she's stuck in this body with Echo (who shouldn't even exist anymore!!!!), she has no Doldee (fuck this lack of bondage monster to control people!!!!), no Vincent (THE LOVE! OF! HER! LIFE!), and even though she recently acquired a knife and miiiiight be learning how to do magic?! SHE'S STILL VERY FRUSTRATED AND UPSET WITH EVERYTHING, because she still hates everyone and everything the end.

WHAT DID RIN MAKE OF ECHO DURING THE GAME??

Rin was amused by Echo! She rarely gets amused, so that was pleasant for her. Overall, she thinks that Echo is an interesting person, and someone she wouldn't mind getting to know better.... though she really needs to disabuse her of the notion that she's a fool. (Which isn't really an anger button for Rin so much as I'M. Not a fool. :/)

I'M NOT SURE AT ALL. I keep seriously considering the idea of Mashu/Matthew/Shielder, but since I love playing Echo/Zwei so much and I keep having 109809342 threads, I'd worry about either overloading myself or spreading myself too thin. Also, I just have really bad luck with playing characters who aren't... Echo...

ALSO I'M TOO LAZY TO HUNT DOWN TRANSLATIONS, though i guess i could go amnesia route...

what teams would you like to see each character you want to app on, OR AT LEAST, WHAT KIND OF TEAM DYNAMICS WOULD YOU WANT FOR THEM

Okay, all team notions are assuming that I'm not already PLAYING a character on the team for the sake of this mental exercise.

Tobias..... my first instinct for him is actually Asphodel. Aconite would also work well.

Kouichi... I'd honestly want to put him on Sakura, because I'm a terrible person and want to corrupt the smol child. Also, it would severely fuck with him and his abilities, which would be even MORE fun for me personally.

Gin is someone I'd like to see on Hemlock, mainly because I think it would be interesting to see him deal with the people on that team. Laughs.

Billy the Kid I'd wanna put on Dahlia. He's not quite as weird as the rest, but he'd still be a lot of fun to play off the personality types there.

Nick Gautier is someone I'd also want to put on Dahlia, because he IS approximately that weird. :D The only team that would be a genuinely terrible idea (for everyone else) is Sakura because if he gets corrupted, he'd get SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS (for everyone else....)

I've been meaning to throw Rin at Echo after bodyswap, but it hasn't happened yet. But assuming she read the banners revealing who everyone is, how did she feel upon learning that it was Rin in Elaine's body?

KIND OF LIKE AN IDIOT. Only kind of. Truthfully, she has to give Rin credit where it's due since it means she did a good job at playing her part in the game, and that was the point.

...still frustrating though.

HOW WOULD RIN FEEL ABOUT HER FAMILY SHOWING UP IN FOREST? Hard mode: no Hatsuharu

NO HATSUHARU WOULD ACTUALLY BE A GOOD THING! Haru coming would mean she failed more epically than she cares to think about, frankly.

If it's Momiji, Kisa, Ritsu, or Hatori, she'll feel vaguely bad for them, but it won't affect her too much.

If it's Kyou, she'll feel bad but tsun a little harder about feeling bad because he's the Cat.

If it's Yuki, she'll feel bad about not feeling bad.

If it's Shigure, she'll feel wretched but also start bugging him about the curse again. And pretend she doesn't feel as wretched as she does.

If it's Ayame, she'll feel bad but also alarmed because SHE'S TRAPPED IN LIMBO WITH AYAME.

If it's Kagura, she'll be genuinely upset and probably cry a little, but never let Kagura know how upset she is.

If it's Hiro, it'd be almost as bad as if it's Haru, because he's the baby and deserved to have a happy life. She'd prioritize him coming back to life over herself.

If it's Kureno, her first thought will be, "Who cares about that guy?" Then she'll yell at him for making Tohru cry that one time. Then she'll ignore him until she finds out his curse is broken, at which point she'll BOTHER HIM FOR ETERNITY OVER THAT IF SHE HAS TO.

If it's Akito, her thought process will be "Does this mean the curse is broken?" → "Probably not, him being dead doesn't automatically mean that." → "Can I break the curse with him being dead?" → "Will someone else immediately replace him?" She won't approach Akito though because she'll be too busy being FUCKING TERRIFIED EVERY TIME SHE SEES HIM. (possibly finding out Akito is actually a woman would do nothing to abate the terror.)

How would Echo feel if Vincent showed up? How would Zwei?

Answered here! Basically it'd be way different from how aather!Echo poorly handled Vincent; afd!Echo would actually be fairly mature about it. To add on, she'd probably hope that her ex-master would want nothing to do with her, because that'd be a+++.

STATE OF THE UNION HOW ARE ALL OF YOUR AFDS EMOTIONALLY

Rin is presently stuck in a misery loop over various things. She's trying to push through it with DETERMINATION!!1! though, putting a single-mindedness towards her goal of returning to life and freeing Hatsuharu from the curse (before letting herself die for real). She's also very, very lonely— she doesn't feel like she's particularly close to anyone and ever since the sin/punishment game, she's fairly convinced she's a garbage person who doesn't deserve happiness, anyway. But that's fine, she doesn't need any sort of happiness for herself. She can drown in misery for all she cares as long as she succeeds in her goals.

Katou is actually doing pretty well, mostly. As long as Lycoris doesn't hit a losing streak, he pretty much feels like he can coast forever with the way things are going now. (He knows he'll freak out if they DO because he doesn't want to forget, not again.) Uriel showing up was pretty big for him because he didn't expect to see anyone that anchors him back to home, especially someone he actually gives a damn about. So it's both sort of grounding and sort of... terrifying, because what if he can't bring Uriel back, too? He's not going to lose his chance to return, but he's not sure how to come to terms with the guilt of the idea of leaving Uriel dead to do it. Mostly though, he's pushing aside that issue (and every single other one he has about everything).

Bucky feels super-guilty about slipping away for a while, and is determined not to let it happen again. He wants to try harder for Larkspur, to make sure that he and everyone else gets a chance to return.... He's worried that he's putting his foot fantastically into his mouth every time he speaks to Lilith and may one day wreck their friendship.... Overall, he's so focused on "now" that he's temporarily forgotten that he was terrified of what might happen when he remembers, and if he'll lose "himself" in the memories of his past....

since Hemlock has been winning a fair amount recently Yuukie has kind of chilled out a little on the WIN AT ALL COSTS front, and xe also actually remembered a couple of Tadaki Yuukie's memories so xe can kind of. place xemself better as a person now. or xe COULD, EXCEPT NOW XE'S HAVING MEMORY GAP PROBLEMS in regards to the time during which Abel took over, lol, because A LOT OF SHIT HAPPENED DURING THAT TIME and now it's like why am I partly made of plants. Elaine brought them to the theory that there's someone else living in xyr head which to xem also explains the weird phenomenon where xe kept getting back memories but not remembering them, so xe's pretty sold on it but not sure what. to do with it. apologize for the other person in xyr head??? basically xe's mostly confused and distracted from a lot of the other shit that had previously been bothering xem.

Solomon is... lazy... when he threads with Sitri again he'll be p i s s e d about Dantalion attacking Sitri's body but until then, he's just sort of going through the motions. he was a little shaken up after the sins game but it at the same time sort of helped him to settle more, in and of itself. his life being awful is sort of what he's used to, so he has a lot of maladjusted coping mechanisms for it already, lol. so he's just in quiet despair while refusing to be actually upset and instead is being extra stupid and easily won over by shiny new things like TEAMMATE IS A LAMIA

Uriel is, hm. he's very much alike to canon in that he's easily emotionally moved but also he's a professional who rigorously prioritizes. perhaps even moreso because his consciousness isn't "old" enough to be too pent up in itself and fixated on any complexes. so like there's a lot of stuff he's concerned about in regards to the memories he doesn't have, and he's worried about being/becoming a danger to those around them, but the memories thing is something he's making progress on that he can't rush and all he can really do about being dangerous is try AS HARD AS HE CAN to be absolutely calm all the time. he addresses things that are right in front of him first also since it's. faster? more efficient? something like that. to begin with he was really gung-ho about giving the Arbiters what-for but then he lost his mind so now he's like \:'D/ ACTUALLY LET'S AVOID THAT TOPIC SO I DON'T DO THAT AGAIN. but it bothers him to behave that way since he doesn't like. not acknowledging things in that way. and of course it doesn't resolve the problem he has with the Arbiters to begin with in that he's like WHO APPOINTED YOU TO THIS JOB!!! WHERE ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS!!! SHOW ME SOLID DOCUMENTS

this came out a bit disjointed but Uriel has like the most things bothering him right now lmao. and he just sort of layers and numbers them and doesn't set any of them aside. HE'S ALSOW ORRIED ABOUT SITRI NOW OBVIOUSLY!! but also Lilith and also Katou and now Larkspur has a babbier teammate than him and. a lot of things. to manage.

so how does the corruption change how Rin is/feels/behaves/etc. compared to how she would be otherwise? also does Bucky have any corruption after his vacation and if so same question to him

Bucky does not have corruption mainly because it didn't occur to me when I brought him back. I may corrupt him one day, though! I'm not sure.

Honestly, without corruption, Rin would have no drive at all to play games. She's pretty much just accept being dead, and— it's not that she'd be okay with losing her memories of Hatsuharu, but she'd also feel like she deserves it. So the corruption's had a positive influence in that it drives her to live, at least for a while longer.

She's also constantly starving because she's hungry and only eats flower petals, but she thinks it's because of how she died and not because of any corrupting influence. :D She's eventually going to snap and try to eat someone, but I'm not sure when I'm going to play that part out.

(She also attacked Elaine in a nightmare once because of the corruption, and she's gotten very close to it a few times in the real world.)

that about sums it up.

no ok uh. THE THING IS LIKE. it's not completely "new" to him given he has all these demons but it is different. atm he's really still feeling it out but. he doesn't actually give Master/Servant contracts the same weight in his mind compared to his demon contracts (because they seem less permanent, for starters)... but it's also sort of nice and famiiar while also being new and different. I think I told Moelle in a plurk meme how the way there's all this stuff Solomon doesn't already know about and understand in afd and it's revitalized him in a way? bc honestly at the point he died at he was just. done with trying. at anything. but he's a curious person and he likes learning and studying and thinking and now he has... reason and opportunity to again. so becoming a Master is a part of that.

otoh it's also hard to paint "demon contracts" and "Master/Servant contracts" as like everything that falls into those categories are the same as each other. contracts are individually personal to him. his contract to Sitri is different from his contract to Dantalion and if he contracts another Servant it'll be different from his contract to Karna. so I can't really say he's actively looking for more Servant contracts bc well, like, he needs to connect with another Servant in a way where he'll want to take them on again. but it's likely he'll end up taking on more lol.

THERE'S ALSO YONAH AND HAISE. who aren't inherently contract-bidden beings the way demons or Servants are so it's more complicated. but he's working on that honestly.

did Setsuna being Katou's Master change their relationship at all??

NOT A WHOLE LOT. Which... was really part of their problem. Katou cares about Setsuna as a friend, but he doesn't have any respect for him at all. Their friendship was incompatible as a Master/Servant relationship, and neither of them is good at listening. If they'd had a little more time, they might have figured out how to adapt their relationship into something more compatible, but Katou went and got himself killed before they had a chance.

(Setsuna absolutely used a Command Seal at one point just to make Katou shut up and listen!)

Can you tell me more about Uriel's AU?

I THINK I'VE REALLY TOLD YOU ABOUT AS MUCH AS I HAVE FIGURED OUT LMAO... um, the Uriel in afd probably went through, like, the proper canon timeline before eventually at some nebulously point in the future getting assassinated probably since lol heaven politics and then being summoned by Rociel

so he has no memory of fighting against himself in the past -- him and the "proper Uriel" he fights against are from branching timelines.

there also wasn't already a Grail War going on; if anything, Rociel instigated the start of a Grail War in forcibly summoning Uriel. (so when the main cast beat God and everything and go back to earth they probably walk right into the midst of the rest of a Grail War lol.) so Berserker Uriel never actually fought against other Servants, just. you know, angels. IDK WHAT ELSE TO SAY YOU CAN ASK SPECIFIC QUESTIONS IF YOU WANT??

URIEL'S IS LEGIT I frankly expected that kind of answer.

WELL! Rin still doesn't feel bad about her decision to pick Solomon over Sitri in that game b/c his sin upset her a great deal, so if kitty wanted her to feel bad, he failed. As a result of his torture and then her torture at the hands of everyone else, however, her self-esteem fell through the floor. It's not that she held herself in high regard so much as she's been using it as proof that she really is the worst sort of person, that every negative thought she's ever said or thought about herself is true and everyone else agrees. So she feels like she's trash, she's worthless, and the one good thing she can do is go back to life long enough to free Hatsuharu from the curse and then maybe, if she's lucky, she can sink into oblivion and someone else will be the Horse.

SO BASICALLY IT WAS THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO HER in that sense. \o/

If you were forced to drop down to one character, who would you choose?

HRM. Solo...mon... probably... or else I would reapp Rantsa tbh. the thing is I have no real concerns over "could I maintain this character if they were my only character" if you go by my afd lineup bc all of them are characters with whom I would actually be doing much better with if they were my only character lmao. (Rosary in court I wouldn't be able to manage though but really I'm managing hir anyway.) so it's Solomon because he has the most elaborate cr network, lol.

on the flip side Rantsa obviously had very little cr but - the thing with Solomon is that he's really static whereas Rantsa, despite seeming like a static character, is really set up for a major character arc, and if she were my only character I would have a lot more time and energy to invest in her and have her interact with more characters more and eventually bring that arc to fruition. at that point maybe I would be satisfied and drop her and switch to someone else lmao but it would be. fun!!
